If you’ve been following along for a while now then chances are you’ve already seen me mention both Trunk Club and my obsession with it prior to this. A personal styling service for men and women, I first starting using Trunk Club last year and it’s quickly become my favorite way to shop. Why? Because it’s perfect for anyone who:
- Is short on time – incredible stylists like my girl Marjorie do all the heavy lifting when it comes to searching for items you’ll love wearing again and again.
- Might be looking for a little extra help from a stylist – Ted typically responds with the age old “smile and nod” so his isn’t the most helpful second opinion.
- Loves Nordstrom – yes, Trunk Club is a Nordstrom company and yes this is just another way of saying everyone you know will obsess over it.
- Believes anything worth doing is worth doing in style – think luxurious fitting areas (not rooms) and champagne cocktails. With six Clubhouses dotted around the US, Trunk Club makes shopping a truly magical experience.
- Lives for Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale – if you’ve read this post then you know being a Trunk Club member really pays off when it comes to #NSale.
To make working with a stylist even easier, the guys at Trunk Club created Featured Trunks. Centered around distinct themes Featured Trunks provide both styling inspiration and solutions for every occasion. That long overdue date night? The Monday morning interview you’ve been dreading? Trust me, you’ll be dressed to impress! Oh and in case you’re wondering, Trunks are always, always, always tailored specifically to your individual taste, body type and budget
When curating my Featured Trunk I not only wanted it to reflect my style but the pieces I find most versatile this time of year and think you will too. I like to describe my style as classic with a twist and generally gravitate toward distinctly feminine pieces. As such I decided to focus on six different but complementary categories: cozy sweaters, ladylike midis, statement bags, romantic blouses, wear-with-anything-pumps and conversation-worthy-coats. Whether styled together or incorporated into an already existing wardrobe I really believe each and every one of these pieces has the power to elevate any look.
Coats are probably the one thing I can’t get enough of come fall/winter. I’ve always loved outerwear but moving to Boston has made it so much more of a priority for me. With temperatures regularly dipping below 40 it’s not only important to have a practical coat but a pretty one too – let’s be real, when it feels like your coat is the only part of your outfit anyone sees for six months out of the year then you really want it to be one you feel confident in. Personally, I feel the go-with-anything grey of this coat combined with that bold blue collar couldn’t get any better.
If you know me then you know I’m an absolute sucker for a midi skirt. Much more forgiving than it’s maxi or mini counterparts, this style generally hits mid-calf meaning it flatters almost every body type. You won’t be too surprised to learn that the floral print version you see here immediately caught my eye but it’s the versatility the colors within offer that ultimately sealed the deal for me. Dark florals are always a good idea because they can easily be worn all year round – this lovely would work just as well with a light tank top as it would with a burgundy sweater.
Speaking of sweaters, there’s simply nothing better to cuddle up in this time of year. The cashmere cable knit you see here is beyond cozy and actually surprisingly warm for such a neat, fitted style. It looks great dressed-up with an asymmetrical skirt in a contrasting color but would easily work just as well with a romantic blouse (bonus points for ruffled hems and/or embellished necklines) boyfriend jeans and flats.
Last but certainly not least; the accessories! If you ask me, a gal can’t go wrong with closed toe pumps and a statement bag. While they may not provide that much warmth, a pump is much better than a strappy sandal come winter. Not only that but the leg lengthening potential when you opt for a nude, pointy toe pump? Endless! Once you’ve found the perfect neutrals however, I’d strongly suggest treating yourself to a “fun” pair in a notice-me-print or mood-lifting color such as this pastel blue. As for the bag, smaller sizes are usually best as they won’t overwhelm your look or a petite frame. The two you see here? Some of my absolute favorites of the season – just imagine how cute that white one would look with a completely monochrome outfit.
If my Featured Trunk sounds like everything you’ve been missing in life and more then you can get yours here. Not a Trunk Club member just yet? You can sign up here (it couldn’t be easier) and simply message your stylist to request the Kerrie M. Burke Featured Trunk. While I truly hope you’ll love these must-haves as much as I do, I also know that we all have different taste so don’t be afraid to use this Trunk as a starting point when describing what you’d like to see in yours – tweaks are totally expected and totally welcome.
